Man Electrocuted In Plateau While Trying To Steal

 
An alleged diesel thief has died Monday morning after he was electrocuted by an electric barbed fence in Plateau while trying to steal diesel from a compound.
The suspect, Mr. John Aboy, and two other men had attempted to get into the compound they planned to steal the diesel around 3am before Aboy who led the group was electrocuted.  
On seeing what happened, the two other men took to their heels and left Aboy to his faith. Aboy was later found hanging dead on the electric fence in the morning by passersby and residents of the area.

Police on patrol were said to have arrived the scene and took the hanging corpse away. Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abuh Emmanuel, advised people with criminal tendencies to look for reasonable ways to make a living, saying crime does not pay and this is what ends it.

$9.3m arms deal scandal: Oritsejafor breaks silence, says I have no hand in it

 
The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, yesterday broke his silence over the $9.3m arms deal scandal in which his private jet was used to carry the huge sum of money out of Nigeria to South Africa. Speaking at the National Executive Council meeting of CAN at the National Christian Center in Abuja, Pastor Oritsejafor absolved himself of any wrong doing, saying he would never do anything that would tarnish the image of Jesus Christ
"I wish to assure you that I will not do anything to tarnish the image of Jesus Christ or compromise the divine standard of the church. As you are all aware, the media has been awashed in the past few days about an unfortunate incident involving the movement of funds from Nigeria to South Africa. In the unfortunate news reports, attempts have been made to link me directly with the transaction. So far, I have refrained from making any direct public response pending the time that I would have briefed the leaders of the church and explained my position on the issues to them.

Boko Haram strikes again in Adamawa state


Boko Haram men in the early hours of yesterday September 29th launched an attack in Kubi and Watu villages in Michika LGA of Adamawa state, killing scores and burning over 500 houses.

According to a resident of the village, the sect men came very early in the morning when people were still sleeping, setting their homes ablaze and causing them to burn to death in the resulting inferno.

Another Set Of Soldiers, 60, Face Trial For Mutiny Today

 
60 Nigerian soldiers including 2 corporals, 9 Lance corporals and 49 privates who refused to partake in an operation in Maiduguri on August 4th will be arraigned before a military court today Sept. 30th at the Sani Abacha barracks in Abuja for committing two offenses, conspiring to mutiny and mutiny.

According to the charge sheet, on August 4th the soldiers had refused to join the "111 SF Bn troops" led by Col E. A. Aladeniyi to Maimalari Barracks for an operation, thereby committing an offence tagged "conspiring to mutiny" against the authority of the division, an offence punishable under Section 91(1) of the Penal Code Cap P89 LFN 2004 as well as outright mutiny which is punishable under Section 52(1)(a) of the AFA CAP A20 LFN 2004.



The charges  are said to be triable in the GCM under Section 114 of the AFA Cap A20 LFN 2004 and punishable under Section 91(1) of the Penal Code Cap P89 LFN 2004.

TB Joshua must be prosecuted'- HR Group warns Fashola

 
In reaction to the collapse of a 6 storey guest house belonging to the Synagogue church which resulted in the death of 115 people ,a human rights group, Vote for Service Initiative has written a strong worded letter dated September 25, to the Lagos State governor .
They are demanding the immediate persecution of TB Joshua and accused the government of treating him with leniency based on the ‘Touch not my Anointed.’” excuse.
“We are Vote for Service Initiative. We like to remind your good office that, it was in this state your attorney general and commissioner for justice prosecuted and convicted Rev. King to death by hanging for (killing) one of his devotees with ignited fire.
It is also the same attorney general office that prosecuted recently Mr. Arowolo to death by hanging for killing his wife with knife and cudgel, how much more the man that (killed) over 115 souls through criminal negligence and brazen impunity,Failure to which we will be left with no other option than to approach the competent court of jurisdiction for an order of mandamus for your good office to implement the law you signed in 2010 without delay,”

Judge Acquits Ikuforiji Of N600m Money Laundering Charges

 
Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court, Lagos, has discharged and acquitted Adeyemi Ikuforiji, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, from money laundering charges.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC had accused Mr. Ikuforiji and Oyebode Atoyebi, his aide, of laundering about N600 million and were charged to court.

The judge described the trial as “anachronistic” and should not have been allowed to continue. “This proceeding should have been treated as an aborted trial and the charges should have been withdrawn,” he added.

Freed Chibok Girl Is 4 Months Pregnant

 
This is just sad. The freed Chibok girl, who was found Wednesday evening is said to be four months pregnant. The chairman of Chibok community in Abuja confirmed this and said there were also signs on her that showed she was not only sexually abused, but was also physically abused.

She is actually one of our daughters abducted from Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok. She was found in Mubi where her abductors dumped her and was later taken to Yola, the girl is four months pregnant, he said. Just sad!

Six Ministers To Quit Jonathan’s Cabinet To Pursue Governorship Ambitions

 
At least, six ministers may quit President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet in October as preparations for the 2015 general elections peak. The affected ministers are expected to resign their appointments in order to pursue their governorship ambitions on the platform of
PDP.
The ministers who have governorship ambitions in their respective states include Dr. Samuel Ortom (State, Trade, Industry and Investment), Senator Musiliu Obanikoro (State, Defence), Senator Bala Muhammed (Federal Capital Territory), Mr. Labaran Maku (Information), Chief Emeka Wogu (Labour), and Mr. Nyesom Wike (State, Education).

Pastor loses wife and four children in fire outbreak in Warri

 
The Parish Pastor of the Christ Apotolic Church in Otumara in Warri Delta state, Pastor J.O. Kayoda, yesterday September 25th lost his wife and four children, two boys and two girls, in a fire outbreak at their home. According to reports, all five family members were burnt beyond recognition after an electric fault in the area caused a fire outbreak in the missionary building of the church where the pastor and his wife stayed. The Pastor was said to be away in Osun state to attend a Pastoral conference when the fire killed his entire family.


According to a neighbor, the fire started at about 11pm and rescue operation to save the woman and her children was very difficult due to the iron protectors the house had.

Boko Haram kills Pastor, Teacher, 17 others in Borno state

 
Pastor Eliud Gwamna Mshelizza of the Living Faith Church, a teacher with the Government Girls Secondary School Shaffa alongside 17 others were killed in separate attacks on Wednesday September 24th and Thursday September 25th after Boko Haram members launched an attack on Shaffa and Shindiffu villages of Hawul LGA in Borno State.

The sect men were said to have arrived Shaffa at about 8pm on Wednesday September 24th and after ravaging the village, proceeded to Shindiffu village on Thursday September 25th. They burnt down about 10 churches including E.Y.N No:I, E.Y.N No: II and III in both villages. Many of the sect members were however killed by Nigerian troops who came in from Adamawa and Biu during an ambush as the Boko Haram men were leaving the villages after the attack.

Ekiti boils as hoodlums destroy APC office, Gov declares 7pm-7am curfew

 
There's a lot of craziness going on currently in Ekiti state. A day after an Ayo Fayose loyalist was shot dead by unknown gunmen, hoodlums went on a rampage destroying the campaign office of the state governor, Kayode Fayemi, as well as the APC secretariat. The thugs also destroyed properties belonging to other politicians.

Today's chaos is believed to be an aftermath of the assassination of the former chairman of the Ekiti state NURTW, Mr Omalafe Aderiye.

The EFCC has declared one Chief Hope Rexlawson (pictured above) wanted for issuing two DUD cheques totaling N76million for the purchase of 46 vehicles. Find the EFCC press statement below
The public is hereby notified that Chief Hope Rexlawson, whose photograph appears above is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with a case of Issuance of Dud Cheque. 
RexLawson in his capacity as the National Coordinator of Rebuild Nigeria Initiative NGO, allegedly issued several EcoBank and Zenith Bank cheques to Goshen Motors Limited as payment for 46 Vehicles. 
The cheques totalling N73, 600, 000.00 (Seventy Three Million Six Hundred Thousand Naira) were returned unpaid upon presentation at the Bank due to insufficient funds in the account.

Man commits suicide in Ekiti state after two failed attempts

After two failed attempts to kill himself in the last three years, a man said to be in his 30s named Mundiu (pictured above) finally succeeded in killing himself yesterday September 19th.

According to Sun News, Mundiu killed himself in the hall way of his compound in Ayede-Ekiti community in Oye local government of Ekiti state around in the early hours of yesterday morning.

According to one of his neighbors, Muntiu had always complained of being poor and unsuccessful and was said to be very frustrated. A day before he killed himself, he mentioned to neighbours that they will be witnessing drama on Friday but no one knew he was talking about him killing himself...

Here are some photos from the one-storey church building belonging to Christ Chosen Church of God which collapsed yesterday September 19th. The building, which had been vacated recently by the church following its relocation to a bigger site, was being demolished by 8 workers when it caved in and fell on them. Journalist Nicholas Ibekwe this afternoon shared audio proof of T.B Joshua offering journalists (who are covering the building collapse) N50,000 to 'fuel' their cars after he met with them behind close doors at his church premises. After giving them the money, he asked them what they planned to write and some of them said whatever he wants them to write. He asked them to talk about the people who were rescued/survived and not focus on the people who died.

Super Eagles slip on FIFA ranking

Nigeria lost ground on the ranking following a poor start to the 2015 Cup of Africa Nations this month, falling to a shock 3-2 loss against Congo in Calabar before playing out a goalless draw with South Africa in Cape Town.

Congo on their part went up 30 places to occupy 48th spot, the highest position ever attained by the central African nation on the ranking, courtesy of a perfect start in Nations Cup qualifying.

As a result, Nigeria is now the sixth highest ranked African nation as Senegal, Tunisia and Ghana gained 23, 11 and three places respectively to go past Nigeria on the world rankings.

Senegal holds a perfect record after two matches in AFCON 2015 qualifying and was rewarded with a jump from 49th to 36th place in the latest ranking, while Ghana is 33rd and Tunisia 31st.

Synagogue Church release statement on building collapse, says it was an attack


On Friday, September 12, 2014, at about 12:44pm, one of the buildings on The SCOAN property unexpectedly collapsed, tragically resulting in death and injury. Nigerians and citizens of other nations were affected. This incident was preceded by the appearance of a strange aircraft which flew very low over the building four times and then disappeared.
Since the day of this incident, The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations, its members and partners, have worked in collaboration with the Nigerian, South African and other nations’ authorities to ensure that survivors are rescued, attended to with the best medical treatment, cared for in the most humane and hospitable manner and reunited with their families, while those who passed on - martyrs of the Kingdom of God - are retrieved, identified and treated respectfully.
Amongst those we are working hand-in-hand with, are: The Federal Government of Nigeria, the Government of the Republic of South Africa, Lagos State Government, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA),  the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos State Ministry of Health - doctors and nurses, the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), the Red Cross, the Nigeria Police Force and various Non-governmental and humanitarian organisations and construction and engineering corporations.

Ogun police arrest 25-year-old man for defiling 3 year old girl

 
25-year-old Kayode Akanni, (pictured above) has been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command attached to the Ayetoro Division for defiling a three -year- old girl in, Punch reports.

While parading him before the press, the state Police spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi said Kayode had tricked the little girl into his room then ha sex with her. He said the parents of the little girl discovered the damage on her private part and when asked who touched her, the little girl mentioned the young man's name. Her parents immediately made a report at the police station and he was arrested ..

15 soldiers get 4yrs imprisonment for refusing to fight Boko Haram


15 Nigerian soldiers who refused orders from their superior to go to the war front and fight members of the insurgency group, Boko Haram in Adamawa state recently, were yesterday September 17th sentenced to 4 years imprisonment by a military court that sat at the 23rd Armoured Brigade in Yola in Adamawa state.

The sentenced soldiers who had been in detention for over three weeks were convicted on charges ranging from insubordination, dereliction of duty and refusal to undertake order assigned to them in the war against the sect members.

Lesbian woman executed for starving girlfriend's 9yr old son to death


Lisa Coleman (left), 38, was pronounced dead at 6:23pm today in Huntsville, Texas. She had been on death row for the past eight years, after being convicted of the 2004 death of her girlfriend's 9yr old son, Davontae Williams (right) who had been beaten and bound, and whose body bore more than 250 scars when officials discovered him on July 26, 2004. He had also been starved, weighing a mere 35 pounds at the time of his death.
Witnesses said Coleman appeared to be at peace with the execution on Wednesday telling her jailers: 'I'm ready. I know where I'm going. I'm not bitter, just ready'. She then smiled and blew kisses at the supporters gathered at her execution and said 'God bless you all'. Her last words were directed at her fellow inmate, Darlie Routier. 'Tell them I finished strong.' Coleman was given a lethal injection at 6pm and was pronounced dead at 6:23pm. No one showed up to represent the victim, Davontae.

67 South Africans Died In Synagogue Building Collapse- President Zuma

 
 
As the death toll in the collapsed building of the Synagogue Church of All Nation (SCOAN) continues to rise, South African President, Jacob Zuma, yesterday said 67 South Africans have been confirmed dead in the disaster.
Zuma’s disclosure has however, raised questions about the figure of 63 casualties released by the emergency agencies especially by the Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
He said: “I am greatly saddened to announce that 67 South Africans died and scores of others sustained injuries. This is a particularly a difficult time for South Africa.

NAFDAC To Arrest LUTH Consultant Over Ebola Cure Claim

 
The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and ‎Control, NAFDAC has made a pronouncement to arrest the Professor of Ophthalmology at the Lagos State Teaching hospital, LUTH, Prof Adebukola Adefule Oshitelu, who laid claims that ‘Genus Corchorus’ popularly known as Ewedu is capable of curing the Ebola Virus Disease.
The Director General of NAFDAC, Dr Paul Orhii, made this known at a press briefing on the activities of the agency, which was held on Tuesday at the agency’s Oshodi branch in Lagos.
It will be recalled that Mr Paul few months ago also stated that popular Cameroon singer, Dencia will also be arrested once she steps her feet into Nigeria for producing creams that are dangerous to health.

Nigeria Military fires GOC attacked by convicted soldiers

 
The Nigeria Military authorities have retired the former General Officer Commanding the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, Maj. Gen. Abubakar Mohammed, who was attacked by soldiers at their barracks in Maiduguri on May 14th. The soldiers have since been sentenced to death for that action by a military court.
According to Punch, Mohammed was retired after he was recalled to the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army without posting for months after the soldiers’ attempt on his life.

Three dead children found abandoned in Benin

 
Residents of Benin city in Edo state today September 17th woke up to the shocking discovery of the dead bodies of three children abandoned at two points along the 2nd East Circular Road by unknown individuals.
Two of the bodies, already in decomposing states, were wrapped and ‎put in a cardboard box and placed under a palm tree along the road while the third body of a girl of about a year old was dumped few meters away from the others along the road by Uwa street junction. Delta state lawmaker walked out of Assembly for improper dressing

A member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Keston Okoro, was yesterday September 16th sent out of the floor of the Assembly for improper dressing., The House Speaker Hon Peter Onwunsanya gave the order after a member of the house, Daniel Mayuku raised an objection to the mode of dressing of the lawmaker, saying that his dressing fell short of the rules and regulations of the House.
"My dear Speaker and members of this House, as honorable members, we are here to work according to the rules and regulations of this House. Therefore, let me draw your attention to the sitting position of the member representing Udu constituency and to say his mode of dressing is a total disrespect to this honorable House. Our mode of dressing should depict us as responsible members of the House, representing the people in our respective constituencies.’’ Mayuku said.
 The Speaker immediately ordered Keston out of the chamber and warned that he should not return until he is 'properly dressed.'

Ex-minister thrown into rubbish bin by angry mob (photos)

It's Ukrainian politics so I don't care much for the details..:-).. but a former minister named Vitaly Zhuravsky was attacked yesterday morning September 16th by an angry mob as he walked past a crowd outside the parliament building in Kiev, the Ukrainian capital.  

The minister was grabbed by the screaming mob and bundled head first into the half full rubbish bin and they proceeded to pelt him with the rubbish, pour water on him and hit him on the head with a car tyre. They are mad at him and other lawmakers because of Ukraine's recent trade pact with EU. See photos after the cut...

Two Nigerians And An Israeli Smuggle $9.3million Into South Africa In A Private Jet To Buy Arms Allegedly On Behalf Of The Nigerian Government


 

The National Conventional Arms Control Committee, which has to approve the import and export of any weapons as well as issue permits for such transactions, was not aware of any applications in this case.
The South African Revenue Service (SARS) seized the funds at Lanseria airport, northwest of Johannesburg, on Sept. 5. The funds are being held at the central bank as police investigate, SARS spokeswoman Marika Muller said.

“The passengers’ luggage was searched after Customs officials detected irregularities. The money was detained as it was undisclosed/undeclared and above the prescribed legal limit,” Muller said in a statement.

Christ Embassy suspends Pastor for subversive activities


Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, founder of the Believers Loveworld Ministries, also known as Christ Embassy, has suspended one of his pastors in Lagos, Michelle Okojie, for her “subversive activities.”

According to a statement read during Sunday's service by Ray Okocha, the church’s Secretary General, Pastor Michelle Okojie had been visiting church members in private and slandering the ministry.

    “It has come to our attention that Pastor Michelle Okojie has been visiting church members in private and slandering the ministry, engaging in subversive activities that are
    against the scriptures.” .

Synagogue: 45 year old woman walks out of rubble after 4 days

As the death toll now hits 59,with eight more bodies pulled overnight from the rubble of a collapsed guesthouse at the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Lagos Ibrahim Farinloye, southwest coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), told AFP that  a woman walked out of the rubble with only a broken wrist today,Tuesday.
“A woman of about 45 years old walked out of the rubbles on her own around 2 a.m today, while 10 more bodies were recovered, leaving 59 dead and 131 rescued alive.She was able to walk away from the collapse with just a broken wrist. It’s going to be slower because we believe we can recover more people alive by the grace of God,”
A total of 131 people were injured in the collapse of the hostel, which housed Nigerian and foreign followers of TB Joshua.
