Robber electrocuted at Iju

 

This is a dead pic of a robber who got electrocuted while trying to steal cable from a transformer just beside a house on Iju road by Lonlo bus stop. He apparently tried to steal the cable in the very early hours of today when he got electrocuted and remained in that position until residents woke up this morning. Residents say they are waiting for Government officials to come and carry his dead body.

Nigerian man dies after jumping off 3rd floor during drug raid in India

 
A 35 year old Nigerian man named Obyeka Anwanbukwa suspected to be involved in drugs peddling died on Saturday September 13th after jumping from the window of a third floor flat from a high rise (pictured above) during a drug raid in Akash Bhavan in th eBhaunagar area of Pimple Gurav in India

According to reports, a joint team of India's Narcotic Control Bureau, NCB, and some police officers, stormed the apartment where the deceased and his other Nigerian friends were staying around 8 on Saturday night and while being interrogated, Obyeka allegedly ran off and jumped from the 3rd floor of the building. On Friday, August 15, 2014 my mother and I went to Egypt Air head office at 22B Idowu Taylor Street, Victoria Island, Lagos to book a return ticket for me to go back to school to continue my studies at Dnepropetrovsk Medical Academy, Dnepropetrovsk Ukraine. This was about 11:15 am.
On entering the Egypt air office we met Mr. Tony Nzan on counter 1 to attend to us and we asked to book a ticket to Kiev, Ukraine.   Mr. Tony Nzan explained to us the itinerary for the flight going to Ukraine after which we went to the bank to withdraw money and returned to pay for the ticket and obtained two printouts, so that my mother could have my return itinerary from Kiev next year.

We reviewed the ticket itinerary before leaving Egypt air’s office and immediately observed that the airport code indicated on it was different from what we were familiar with, having traveled to Kiev before.   The ticket indicated an unfamiliar airport code.

Lagos State Release Press Statement On Resumption Of Schools In Lagos

 

1. Concerning the resumption of all public and private nursery, primary and secondary schools for the 2014/2015 session, Lagos State Government supports the September 22, 2014 date, which was announced by the Federal Government after a national consultation on efforts to contain the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Nigeria.

2. Although this resumption date is advisory, as education is a concurrent matter to be regulated by the respective Federal and States Authorities, Lagos State Government considers it eminently justifiable, in view of the fact that there is currently no known carrier of EVD in our State at the moment. Furthermore, the last individual suspected to have been exposed to the virus will be discharged from observation on September 18, 2014, if he tests negative for the virus. All public and private educational institutions in the State are therefore directed to schedule their resumption accordingly.

India deports three Nigerians for e-Shopping fraud

Three Nigerians, Oladapo Obasoto Olatunbosun alias Richard (32), Dickson M Dickson (29) and Abiodun Oluwagbemiga Oyekunle alias Jerie (33), all pictured above, are currently on their way back to Nigeria this morning after they were indicted in an e-shopping fraud in India, where they've lived for several years.

According to an Indian police report, the three young men had been previously arrested for indulging in cheating and online fraud in Chennai, India in 2011 and were recently arrested with an Hyundai Santro car, two LED TVs, 6 mobile phones, 3 cameras,3 watches, 7 imported perfumes, 3 laptops, 1 Ipod and 32 pairs of shoes, which they had purchased through fraudulent online shopping. Photos: Fatal accident on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Nine persons including a child died this morning in a fatal multiple accident that occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. 

According to eyewitnesses, 2 Mazda cars collided with a Petrol tanker which immediately busted into flames. Nigerian Teachers threaten to strike over new resumption date

The Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, have threatened to go on a nationwide strike if the Federal government does not shift the date of resumption as well as put in place measures that would protect their members from contracting the deadly Ebola virus while teaching in schools. 

Speaking in a telephone interview with Punch, the National President of the NUT, Michael Alogba, said the union had taken a decision not to allow any of its members go into any school to teach if the eradication of the deadly virus has not been scientifically and medically proven. Continue...

Nollywood actor, Damola Olatunji’s 1-year old marriage is in crisis. Damola has been accused by his wife of sleeping with Bukky Awoyemi a Nollywood actress. Obasanjo's son in stable condition after being shot by Boko Haram

Son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Adeboye Obasanjo who suffered gunshot injuries yesterday September 8th after his platoon was attacked by Boko Haram men in Baza, Adamawa state is said to be in stable condition after being treated in hospital.

24 soldiers were reportedly killed during the attack which saw the army lose an armored tank to the sect members. Adeboye Obasanjo, an army engineer, was a Lieutenant Colonel at the 3rd Division in Jos, Plateau State and was head of the army platoon stationed at Baza.

Bob Manuel-Udokwu to contest for House of Assembly seat in 2015

Worshipers resist the return of Adulterous Methodist Church priest

Worshippers at the Ereko circuit, Di­ocese of Lagos, Methodist Church of Nigeria, are protesting against the reinstatement of one of their priests, Rev Abayomi Okesanya who was sent on suspen­sion for alleged adultery. They have vowed to re­sist the return of the clergy to their midst.

His sin: His wife, Yemisi Okesanya accused him of impregnating another woman. Some members of the congregation, who spoke with Saturday Sun, claimed that they were shocked by his sudden return even when he is living with another woman apart from his legally married wife.

The church, which is located at No 18 Ereko Street, Idumota, Lagos, has Rev Moses Adebayo Si­yanbola as the presbyter and minister in-charge of the circuit.

Man organizes friends from Delta state to rob his uncle in Lagos

24-year-old Emmanuel Erherhie, a member of a 6-man robbery gang that was recently apprehended by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja in Lagos has confessed to arranging with his friends to carry out a robbery attack on his own uncle who lives in Festac Town, Lagos.

Emmanuel, who was paraded alongside his other gang members, Joseph Ovologbarho, Innocent Ibe, Victor Ezenwa, Oyoma Akbojiyouwi and James Ukerume, said he arranged for his Uncle to be robbed at his festac home after his uncle kicked him out of his house when he returned from Prison for damaging someone's car. Atiku Abubakar Declares Interest in 2015 Presidential Race

Former vice-president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has declared his intentions to run for the 2015 presidential elections.

Atiku’s media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, said the organisation of the campaign would be headed by Babalola Borisade, former minister of education, AIT reports.

Additional reports indicate that Abubakar will make a formal declaration on Wednesday, September 24th.

UK Commission Probes Christ Embassy

Premium Times reports that the imminent breakup of their marriage may be the least of the problems popular mega-church pastor, Chris Oyakhilome, and his wife, Anita, are facing  at the moment as the United Kingdom agency is investigating the UK branch of their church, Christ Embassy, over controversial payments. The United Kingdom Charity Commission has launched a probe into the transfer of at least N941 million (£3.6 million) by the church to overseas entities between 2008 and 2012.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Charity Commission said it has opened a statutory inquiry to investigate Christ Embassy over “a number of serious concerns relating to the use of charitable funds, in particular large connected party payments and the potential misapplication of grant funding.”

Twin boys stabbed to death by their brother who then killed himself

9 year old twin brothers Patrick and Thomas O'Driscoll were stabbed to death yesterday September 4th by their older half brother Jonathan, 20, who then killed himself about an hour later. Read the full story below...

Nine-year-old Patrick and Thomas O’Driscoll were dressed in their school uniforms when found dead in separate bedrooms by their younger brothers, aged three and five.

Their half-sibling Jonathan, 20, sped from the scene in Charleville, Co Cork, and was discovered hanged 15km away.

Court freezes Dangote’s accounts in 20 banks

 
No,its not Aliko Dangote but his younger brother, Sani Dangote. According to reports, a Federal High Court in Lagos today September 4th ordered 20 Commercial banks in Nigeria to dishonour all withdrawal cheques from Sani Dangote and his companies, Dansa Foods Limited and Bulk Pack Services Limited until September 11th. 

According to Punch, the high court judge, Justice Okon Abang, gave the order while presiding over a case brought against Dangote by Union Bank. Union Bank had dragged him and his companies to court over alleged refusal to pay up the N5.2bn loan granted his company since September, 2008. 

 

Legendary comedienne Joan Rivers dies at 81

Joan Rivers is gone. Her daughter Melissa Rivers just released a statement on her passing...

"It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1:17 PM surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Mount Sinai hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother." 

"Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support and prayers we have received from around the world.They have been heard and appreciated."

"My mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon."

Chris Oyakhilome, who is currently in divorce court with his estranged wife Anita Oyakhilome has denied adultery accusations and has threatened to sue journalists who publish stories about himself and his wife. In a statement released via his lawyer Mr. Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) a few hours ago, Pastor Oyakhilome said the accusations of adultery against him is 'false and malicious'.

Our sons rape us on a daily basis' - Imo Christian mothers cry out

Christian Mothers in Mgbishii, a rural community in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area in Imo state have cried out to the government and the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiatical Province, Dr. Anthony Obinna, over alleged atrocities being committed by their sons and daughters in the area.

According to Vanguard, the women made this appeal during a recent visit to the Catholic Archbishop at the Maria Assumpta Catholic Cathedral in Owerri.

UNILAG Chief Security Officer assasinated

The head of operations, Security Unit of the University of Lagos, Sunday Adejumo, was killed on Friday August 29th by suspected assassins at a beer parlor on Oyenuga street, behind St Finbarrs str., Akoka, Lagos.
