Cristiano Ronaldo is the special footballer of his generation- Sir Alex Ferguson

Legendary football manager Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed any comparison between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, labeling the Real Madrid striker as the special footballer of his generation and also said he's been at the top for over 10years .

According to Sir Alex, Cristiano Ronaldo's desire for football separates him from the rest as the best current player in the world. Ferguson, who was at the Stade de France to see Ronaldo lift the Euro 2016 Trophy, is adamant that the forward's dedication to the sport is a part of the reason for his success.

Alleged sexual misconduct: House of Reps investigation stalled as US Ambassador, Min. of Foreign Affairs fail to appear


The investigation by the House of Representatives  joint committee on ethics and privileges and foreign affairs into the alleged sexual misconduct by three lawmakers, Samuel Ikon, Mohammed Gololo and Mark Gbillah, in the US in April this year, was today stalled as the immediate past US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle or any official from the US Embassy failed to honor the panel's invitation.

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court Cambodia, yesterday, June 7, heard the case of a self-described Nigerian footballer allegedly arrested with 100 grams of methamphetamine in the capital’s Choam Chao commune in January. During the short hearing, the 30-year-old Nigerian national Francis Ihenwe Oderah, confessed to having acted as a delivery man, but asked the court for clemency as he was not a dealer himself.

Legendary boxer Muhammad Ali is dead at age 74

Legendary boxer, Muhammad Ali, 74 who was rushed to a hospital outside Phoenix, Arizona and reportedly on life support after he was found 'barely breathing' at his home on Thursday has died.

Ali was surrounded by his family who rushed to be at his bedside on Friday after doctors warned his condition was 'rapidly deteriorating', Radar Online reported.

Ali was taken to hospital on Thursday with an 'unshakeable cough' which was complicated by his Parkinson's disease. May his soul rest in peace...Amen!

Femi Fani-Kayode said yesterday that he has met all his bail conditions, that the EFCC should release him or charge him to court. A statement signed yesterday by his media assistant, Jude Ndukwe reads;
This is to refute the false information being peddled by a section of the media that former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, who has remained illegally detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) since May 9, 2016, has not met his bail conditions as set by EFCC. Chief Fani-Kayode has since fulfilled the conditions for his bail but rather than take the honourable path of releasing him pending any charge brought against him, the anti-graft agency moved him from Abuja to Lagos where they obtained a questionable warrant to further detain him illegally for another three weeks.

Former drug addict and renowned magician, now General Overseer of The Fingers of God Church, Alagbado Lagos, Bishop Kayode Joseph Abiola Peller, son of the late renowned magician, Professor Peller has carpeted his fellow colleagues in the ministry, Pastor T. B. Joshua and Reverend Chris Oyakhilome, calling them magicians.

He claimed that while the Senior Pastor of The Synagogue Church of All Nations, T. B. Joshua uses Kabballah magic to hypnotize his congregation and the general public over his miracles, the Christ Embassy founder, Chris Oyakhilome’s association with Joshua makes him a suspect.

Onigbinde blasts Sunday Oliseh and NFF in new interview


Former Super Eagles coach and technical committee member Chief Adegboye Onigbinde has blasted Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh in yet another interview, saying Oliseh is using his tenure as Super Eagles coach to learn the job of coaching as he hasn't coached a big club or country before.

Onigbinde also talked about the duties of the technical committee especially as news filtered through social media today that some members of the committee had resigned from their post due to the NFF President's perceived favoritism towards Sunday Oliseh.

BBC Hausa correspondent Yakubu Liman met Isa Kebbi (left), who sells tiger nuts from a wheel barrow at a market in Abuja. According to Kebbi, he buys a sack of tiger nuts on credit every month and if he make a lot of sales, he makes a profit of around $19 (£13).

He is not the first food seller seen wearing a suit to sell his goods. In 2015, BBC published a photo of Daniel Nartey (right) who wears suits to hawk fruits in Accra, Ghana. He told the correspondent that he started wearing suit to sell watermelon after he was told by his pastor to dress well no matter the job you do.

Samuel Eto'o becomes coach of Turkish club Antalyaspor

Former Barcelona, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Everton Striker has been appointed coach of Turkish side Antalyaspor, after the departure of head coach Yusuf Simsek. Cameroon legend Samuel Eto'o Fils who joined the club in June on a three year deal was told by the club's president to take over coaching duties with with technical director Mehmet Ugurlu until a new coach is hired.

CAN protests moves to list Nigeria among Arab nations to fight ISIS

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has protested moves by the Saudi Arabian government to tag Nigeria as a Muslim country in its yet to be formed coalition of 34 Muslim/Arab countries to fight terrorism. Saudi's Foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir yesterday announced that Saudi Arabia has formed a coalition of 34 mainly Muslim countries including powers such as Egypt and Turkey to coordinate a fight against "terrorist organisations".

Federal High Court orders immediate release of Biafran leader, Nnamdi Kanu

The Federal High Court Abuja has ordered the DSS to immediately release the director of the Indigenous People of Biafra and director of Biafran radio, Nnamdi Kanu. Justice Niyi Ademola at a hearing of a case filed against the Federal government by his lawyer this morning, said Kanu was being held unlawfully by DSS and should be freed immediately.

Only yesterday the Magistrate court in Wuse zone 2, Abuja, dropped all charges of criminal conspiracy, intimidation and leading an unlawful society brought against Kanu by the federal government after the DSS appealed to the court to strike out his case so he can be taken to a higher court that can entertain charges bordering on terrorism.

Gunmen Kill Rivers Varsity Lecturer, Son In Port Harcourt

Returning Officer in the March 28, House of Representatives election for Obio Akpor federal constituency in Rivers State, Dr Ebirien Fubara has been killed alongside his son at their residence in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Vanguard gathered that the sad incident occurred over the weekend.  Meanwhile, when contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Muhammad said, the police was not aware of the ugly development.
The late Fubara was appointed a Commissioner in the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, by Governor Nyesom Wike.

A 200-level university student, John Ekefre, has been admitted into the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital after policemen from the Iponri division tortured him and damaged his intestine.
He was said to have been operated on to rectify the internal injury and to remove “the blood clots” that blocked his chest as a result of the torture.
His elder sister, Mercy Ekefre, told a Punch correspondent, who visited LASUTH on Tuesday that the family had spent over N200,000 on John’s treatment.

Court Sacks PDP Acting Chairman, Secondus

An Abuja High Court on Tuesday sacked the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Uche Secondus, from office.
The presiding judge, Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf, in his judgment, held that the position of the acting National Chairman of the party was zoned to the North-east and therefore cannot be occupied by Secondus.
Justice Baba-Yusuf while ruling on the suit filed by former Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Political Affairs, Ahmed Gulak, agreed with him that the defendant (Secondus), was occupying the position of the acting National Chairman of the party illegally.

North Korean court sentences Canadian pastor to life imprisonment for 'crimes against the state'

A Supreme Court in North Korea has sentenced Hyeon Soo Lim, who pastors the Light Korean Presbyterian Church in Toronto to life imprisonment with hard labour after he was convicted of committing 'crimes against the state'. Pastor Soo Lim who had been in detention since February was given the sentence after a brief trial.

30 killed in Boko Haram attack on three villages in Borno

No fewer than 30 people were killed after Boko Haram members attacked Warwara, Mangari and Bura-Shika villages in Borno state over the weekend. Mustapha Karimbe, a member of the state vigilante group said many of the injured persons had machete cuts on them.
"Most of the victims were slaughtered and most of the wounded (had suffered) machete cuts,"he told AFP
Worst hit in the attack is ‎Warwara village where 20 people were killed. Six people were reportedly killed in Bura-Shika while four were killed in Mangari.

Nigerian woman who burnt a man's private parts with hot iron sentenced to 9yrs in prison in the UK

Kenya Alozie, 31, was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on December 14, after being found guilty of GBH with intent. This followed an investigation by police in Greenwich. On 15 May, Alozie and the victim, a man in his thirties, were having sex at an address in Plumstead when she took a hot iron to burn his legs and genitals. She also used a broken bottle to attack him.
The victim sustained a number of serious injuries including deep cuts and burns. He has since undergone a number of hospital treatments and surgery.

Dasuki used part of the arms deal fund to buy properties in Dubai and London-EFCC

Counsel to EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs told the Federal High Court yesterday during the bail hearing of Dasuki and 2 others that investigations by the anti-graft agency showed that the former National Security Adviser used some of the loots from the N32 billion arms deal fund to acquire properties in Dubai and London. Rotimi stated this in the counter-affidavit he presented before the court while opposing Dasuki's bail application. The counter-affidavit in part reads

“That our investigation also revealed that the applicant transferred large sums of monies outside Nigeria and he acquired several assets in Dubai and London with these funds.”

At the hearing of the money laundering case against him and two others at the Federal High Court Abuja yesterday, Dasuki confirmed giving DAAR communications former Chairman Raymond Dokpesi the sum of N2.12 billion for PDP Presidential campaign.
