Flashback: Do you remember this guy?

This is one artiste who got us grooving back in the days. The R’n’B crooner born Alex Okoroigwe but popularly known as Alex O has a lovely voice and actually dictated the pace of the Nigerian music industry with his classic songs, most especially Pretty women, which can still rule the air-waves, if  remixed.

The Imo State born musician, ALEX "O", started his music career as a singer and performer trainee under Uncle Steve Rhodes, the famous Nigerian Musicologist and Television producer in Lagos, 1983. He later joined Lemmy Jackson Music Company and worked as a production assistant, song writer, arranger and voice trainer.

Two years later, an opportunity came knocking on his door which later resulted in the release of his first album in 1988 under Polygram Record Label but popularly known as Premier Music in Nigeria. This was his turning point and marked the beginning of a dream come true for him.

By 1994, with four successful albums and a Maxi single that sold about 60, 000 copies within the first two months of release, still under Polygram Records label (1990), several music awards, nationwide live performance tours together with his then manager, Engr. Ikem Okolue and the band, his career peaked. Alex then started diversifying his interests and part of this, was to go into Music Video Production and also making feature appearances in locally made home videos and feature films; an industry which is now known as Nollywood.

He moved to Singapore but continued with music; doing live performances in night clubs, at corporate functions for companies, Embassies and High Commissions in the country. It was also in Singapore that he studied Digital Film and Video Production, and took additional courses in Music and Audio Production Techniques.

He now runs Digital audiovisuals in South Africa; a Digital Film, Audio/Video production and post-production services company based in Johannesburg and is married to Nollywood actress Oby Edozien.
