Medical doctor commits sucide in lagos

The Lagos State police command is trying to unravel why the Medical Director in charge of City Convalescent Clinic in Kosofe area of the state, Tony Okereke committed sucide.

Dr Okereke was said to have hung himself on the ceiling fan in one of the rooms at his residence at 13, Aliu Street, Ketu in Kosefe area of Lagos.

A police source said the wife of the deceased, Disu, had reported that she was sleeping in the same room with her husband the previous night only to wake up Friday morning to discover that her husband was no longer in bed.

The police source said that the woman claimed she did not suspect any foul play but was shocked when she later discovered her husband’s body dangling from the ceiling fan.

The senior police officer said the force was investigating why a medical doctor would commit suicide when the wife was in the same apartment with him without her knowledge.

A neighbour who did not want his name in print said the man may have been manipulated spiritually to kill himself, adding “why I believe so is because the man was peace loving who loved his family very well”

Lagos state police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide who confirmed the incident said the corpse has been deposited in the hospital for autopsy.

She said the police were investigating to ascertain the cause of death.
