Teenager stabbed to death yards from his home

A 16-year-old boy stabbed to death in a double knife attack in east London was described as a 'splendid young man' today.

The teenager, named locally as Ajmol Alom, was knifed with a friend in Spey Street, Poplar, east London, at around 10pm last night.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder this morning and remains in custody.
The victim's uncle today said he was 'an A* student who was going to do big things', and was due to get his GCSE results on Thursday.

London is turning into something else o

'Ajmol was a good kid, he was a very good kid,' the relative, who refused to be named, said.
'He was into sports, played football all the time and he was very good at his studies, he did his maths GCSE two years early and got an A*.

'He always got good school reports from his teachers and was very popular in class. I know he would have gone on to do big things when he did his A levels.

'He was a sensible guy who would not go out of his way to get into trouble, but it just goes to show what terrible things can happen when you are in the wrong crowd.
'Most of the kids that live around here are good, but a few of his friends that were with him are the kind that attract trouble.'
