Iyanya’s ‘Sexy Mama’ Makes MTV Base Naija Top 10 charts

Award winning singer, Iyanya, is at the top of this week’s MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 charts powered by Star Music. The “Sexy Mama” singer and Project Fame winner displaces Wande Coal who drops one place to number 2 after two weeks atop the chart with “The Kick”, featuring Don Jazzy, and directed by Sesan.

There are two new entries on the Official Naija Top 10 this week: Burna Boy’s “Run My Race”  9 and 2Face’s “Rainbow”, which enters the chart at number 10 in the same week that “Dance Floor” makes its exit. Also dropping out of the chart this week is Wizkid’s “Azonto” after an impressive 9 weeks in the chart. This week’s highest climbers are D’Banj, P-Square and Chidinma who each jump two places – D’Banj to number 7, P-Square to number 4, and Chidinma to number 8 with “E Mi Ni Baller”.

The Nigeria goalkeeper has been rewarded with a starting place in the French club by his coach following his year-long loan in Israel

Nigeria’s Vincent Enyeama will be first choice goalkeeper at Lille for the 2013/14 season after a year-long loan deal at Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel.

30-year-old Enyeama left Lille last season after being unable to get consistent play time at the then French champions as he was second choice to Mickael Landreau.

Frank Castillo drowns in lake

The body of Frank Castillo, a former major league pitcher, was found at the bottom of a lake Monday in Maricopa County, Arizona. He was 44 years old. -

He was boating with family and friends on Bartlett Lake, about 60 miles from Phoenix, when he decided to go swimming and ended up drowning.

A poor swimmer, according to his family, he didn’t surface and a 911 call was placed. A dive team from the sheriff’s office began a search late Sunday.

A University of Pittsburgh medical researcher accused of poisoning his neurologist wife with a supplement she apparently thought would help them have a baby was arrested on Thursday in West Virginia, authorities said.

Dr. Robert Ferrante allegedly laced an energy supplement with cyanide and gave it to Dr. Autumn Klein, a neurologist at the university's medical school, hours after they exchanged text messages about how the supplement could help them conceive, according to a police complaint.

"Will it stimulate egg production too?" Klein, 41, asked about nine hours before she fell ill.

Convicted Nigerian rapist to be deported from UK

Convicted rapist, Ekene Anoliefo, 38, who is a son of a Nigerian politician, has lost his appeal to stay in the UK and will be deported back to Nigeria after serving time for rape.

Ekene was jailed for nine years for the rape of a 19 year old woman in Aberdeen, who he pretended to help before holding her captive in his car, driving her to his flat and then raping her there.

Ekene had been fighting to stay in the UK since he was ordered for deportation in December 2012, claiming that deportation would breach his human rights. His lawyers argued that he had lawfully lived in the UK for four years as a student and had hoped to remain in the country after serving time but the UK government don't want to hear none of that. They said he's 'a dangerous sexual predator' and want him out of the UK.

Yobo denies sending mother in-law packing

There were rumours recently (You probably didn't hear it...I didn't either) that Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo sent his mother-in-law, Mrs Abigail Igwe Fashanu packing from his home for being a bad influence on her daughter, his wife, Adaeze Igwe. He tells Maestro Media, it's not true.

''There's is no iota of truth in the report that has gained grounds of recent. There was no encounter of the such that was described to have happened between my mother-in-law and I. We as a family are in the best of place in our lives currently. Someone from some place, just sat down and decided to construct a lie, a total fabrication from their own imagination.

There was never a time that I sent my Mother-in-Law packing from my home for being a bad influence on her own daughter, who is my wife. How can people just come up with stories about what never happened

'We have no problems at all.  We have two great houses next to each other in Istanbul, Turkey that is big enough to accommodate our families, without anyone invading on anyone's privacy. They are just trying to destroy the two families. 

When we first came across the stories, we thought okay it was just one of those silly little gossips and that it would soon fade away and be forgotten. Only for us to read it and found out it was very well orchestrated pack of lies, from the beginning to the end of it: they didn't even know where I am from and claimed I am from Plateau State. 

They constructed lies about my mother-in-law and her family, claiming all that is not true and that they have no proof of. Most definitely, this is just somebody trying to damage these families. I can tell you categorically, I would not swap my wife for anybody in this world, no woman from anywhere can take her place, she means the world to me. 

The number of calls we have received over this falsehood is unbelievable. People calling to find out what was going on.  I tell you now and this is the absolute truth- ''My wife is my best friend, she's my queen, she's my everything, our families are doing great and doing very well together. Anyone thinking otherwise is only wasting his or her time. 

I am not going to allow anyone disrespect my Mother-in-law wrongfully. I am not going to accept this. They have stepped way out of line this time and I am not going to take it lying low. We would definitely seek legal redress.

Governor Rochas Okorocha sacks Nkiru Sylvanus

Famous Nigerian actress Nkiru Sylvanus has been relieved from her job at the cabinet of Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State.

She served as the Special Assistant on Lagos Affairs for the Imo State Government. She was sacked following a cabinet dissolution which affected all commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants and special assistants in the cabinet.

A statement from the government of the state explains that the ‘the dissolution was necessary to give room for more capable hands into the system in order to fully actualize the rescue mission agenda of the State Government.’

Tito Vilanova Steps Down As Barcelona Coach

Barcelona have confirmed that Tito Vilanova has stepped down as manager to undergo further treatment for cancer.

The Spaniard took over from Pep Guardiola last summer, but the club revealed in December that he was unwell with parotid gland cancer for a second time .

He returned to management in late March after Jordi Roura took control.

Barca president Sandro Rosell and director of the football Andoni Zubizarreta addressed the media and the playing squad on Friday evening to confirm the news.

"After evaluating routine tests on Tito Vilanova, he is to undergo a process of treatment incompatible with being Barca coach," Rosell said.

He added: "This is a big blow for Barcelona, but Barca have received many blows and have always overcome them."

Rosell confirmed a new manager would be announced early next week.

DID YOBO CHASE HIS MOTHER INLAW AWAY?

The marriage of Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2008, Adaeze Igwe and Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo is at the moment experiencing some turbulence, this your darling magazine National Enquirer can exclusively reveal.  The love birds who got married in a hush manner, barely three months after meeting in December 2009 are said to be patching things so as not to catch the attention of the press and public in general.


According to impeccable sources close to the Yobos, the reason for the squabbles is highly connected to Adaeze’s mother, Mrs. Abigail Igwe now Fashanu after she married the former Footballer turned business man in 2011.

Joseph Yobo and Adaeze’s mum our grapevine revealed became sworn enemies when the Fernabarche of Turkey skipper got wind of her plans to crash his marriage.

It was reliably revealed that the woman who’s married to her third husband with Adaeze and her younger sister from different men, allegedly controls the marriage to the extent of advising her daughter against getting pregnant for Yobo even after Joey, their son is almost three.

The reason she gave her daughter, we further learnt is because she needed to get back into her sexy shape just in case things no longer work out between her and her Plateau born hubby and might require her re-marrying.

She was also alleged to have instigated Adaeze’s hush return to school barely a year after her marriage as the ex-model is presently furthering her studies in far away Santa Monica College, Los Angeles, USA, where she is reading Communication while her husband and son are in Turkey.
The goal hunter who used to play for Everton of England before making a switch to Turkish side Fernabarche also allegedly found out that Mrs. Fashanu could have a hand in Adaeze’s frequent request of money for irrelevant things as she’s said to have developed an unexplainable interest for frequent shopping.

The last straw that broke the camel’s back, our source revealed was when  Adaeze’s mother’s visit was becoming too frequent in the Yobo’s  Turkish home as she would storm their apartment unannounced and always interfere in every little argument that ensue between the growing couple.

This we learnt eventually led to her ban, as Yobo officially informed her to stop coming to their home as her interference is doing their marriage no good. Adaeze’s mum was also not invited for Joey’s 2nd birthday party which held in their home in Turkey and insiders dispensed that Adaeze has been asked to choose between her mum and her home as she’s not needed in their home for now nor invited to any of their parties.
