Popular Yoruba actor Ajigijaga dies

Popular Yoruba actor, Mufutau Sanni Adio a.k.a Ajigijaga has died. The famed actor died at his residence at Oko-Oba, Agege, Lagos today July 31st following injuries he sustained from a motorcycle (okada) accident two weeks ago. He was aged 60. May his soul rest in peace, amen

EFCC interrogates Enugu PDP Chairman over allegations of fraud

The Chairman of Enugu state PDP chapter Ikeje Asogwa was today invited for interrogation by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations of misappropriation of funds. Sources at the EFCC headquarters say Mr Asogwa, who was an ex MD of the Enugu State Housing Corporation, was invited by the commission to answer questions on missing funds meant for the development of housing units during his tenure with no traces of any house built.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 arraigned one Umar Yusuf and Ibrahim Ahmed Bebeji, both former clerks of National Orthopedic Hospital, Dala, Kano State before Justice Dije Aboki of the State High Court, Kano on a 3-count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust and theft. Yusuf and Bebeji, between January and September, 2013 allegedly conspired and fraudulently altered information on official revenue receipts in their custody for services rendered to individuals.

2 Men Slumped And Died While a Third Man Went Blind After Eating Fish at Ebonyi



Two men slumped and died after allegedly eating a fresh fish in Ezillo community, Ishielu local government area of Ebonyi State

Vanguard reports that another person who allegedly consumed the fish also became blind.


The species of the fish is said to be forbidden in that community.

One Mr. Alieze was said to have hired the men to do some construction work.

This is indeed not the best of time for the chief medical director of the Federal Medical center Owerri, Dr Mrs Angela Uwakwemh. The hospital boss was sacked few days ago and the premises of the FMC went wild and agog with celebration.

The embattled ex CMD has been in the news of late over the running battle she was having with the staff of the hospital because alleged cases of nepotism, occultic practices within the hospital premises, high handiness and allegedly  enriching herself from the coffers of the medical center to the detriment of her staff.

Woman stabs robber to death in Lagos in self defence

A middle-aged woman is currently recuperating in a Lagos hospital, after robbers stormed her rented apartment on the Lagos Island, during which she stabbed one of the assailants to death.

It was learnt that the woman, identified simply as Adenike, and her family were attacked on Tuesday at about 2am on Eyin Iga Street. It was gathered that the robbers, who were armed with knives and cutlasses, reportedly gained entrance into the house after damaging the gates.

It was also learnt that when the robbers got to Adenike’s apartment, a struggle ensued between Adenike and one of the robbers, identified as Quadri Iginla, who cut her with a knife. Adenike was said to have wrenched the knife from Iginla, and stabbed him in the stomach.

Chinese woman gets electrocuted while entering PIN code at an ATM

A Chinese woman was in for a real shock last weekend when she tried to get money out of an ATM.
The unsuspecting 23-year-old, known as Xiao Liu, had been entering her PIN code into a cash machine in Xi'an, north west China, when a sudden surge of electricity left her needing hospital treatment.

The electric shock sent 200 volts around the woman's body. Humans can only handle 36 volts safely.

I’m not expecting ministerial appointment from Buhari- Tunde Bakare

In an interview with Sahara TV yesterday, the General Overseer of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, said he is not expecting to be appointed a minister in President Buhari's cabinet.
"As far as I am concerned, I am not expecting to be named a minister. If I am offered an appointment, when I get to that bridge I will cross it. I am already a minister of the gospel. Ministry is my calling and my life. The word minister means servant. When you expect nothing, you cannot be disappointed. I keep on doing what I am doing, to be a solid supporter of the Buhari movement and what he stands for in public life. I have no regret on what I did in 2011. If an opportunity presents itself, I will do it again. I am not seeking anything.

95 generals moved in fresh Army shake-up

The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Tukur Yusufu Buratai today approved the postings and appointments of 334 officers of the Nigerian Army officers with various effective dates. These include some Principal Staff Officers at Defence and Army Headquarters, Corps Commanders and General Officers Commanding as well as other commanders.
They include 37 Major Generals, 57 Brigadier Generals, 128 Colonels, several Lieutenants Colonels and others. Some of those affected were the General Officers Commanding 1, 2, 3, 81 and 82 Divisions, Operations Pulo Shield and Safe Haven of Niger Delta and Plateau States.

Boko Haram reportedly slit the throats of 10 fishermen in villages near Baga

Speaking to AFP today, Abubakar Gamandi, head of the fishermen's union in Borno State said,
“On Monday around 4 pm, Boko Haram attacked three villages on the shores of Lake. Chad where they slaughtered 10 people, all of them fishermen,”
The report was further confirmed by a local fisherman, Buhari Dan-Malam.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command on Wednesday arrested a 32-year-old graduate of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, Mr. Stephen Onona, in connection with the death of his close friend and employee, Mr. Daniel Solomon.

Onona is from Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State while Solomon was from Uruan LGA of Akwa Ibom State.

Onona was said to be an employee of Africana First Publisher, Uyo, where he worked for four years.

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Mr. Gabriel Achong, said Onona invited
Solomon, who worked for him as a professional barber, to his house over a misunderstanding bordering on about N1m.

Soldiers in Aba Kill Kidnapper, Arrest 2 Members of his Gang, Including a Lady


Soldiers of the 144 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, stationed at Asa in Ukwa West local government area of Abia State have shot dead a kidnapper, arrested two members of his gang, including a lady, and rescued a female victim.

Vanguard gathered that an Aba-based business woman, Mrs. Rita Anaekwe, was last Sunday night abducted at her residence on Anaekwe Street, Umuleta village, Obinkwu in Ukwa West local
government area.

Family sources said the hoodlums gained entry into the house through the back fence and shot dead the family dog before gaining access to the main building.

Moutuary attendant faints after 'dead' 92 year old woman wakes up screaming


A 92-year-old woman who had been declared dead suddenly woke up screaming inside a freezing mortuary.
Prosecutors in Germany have charged a doctor with negligent bodily harm after he mistook the woman for dead.

The 53-year-old doctor pronounced the seriously ill woman dead in March after a care worker found her without a pulse and not breathing at a retirement home.Her body was taken to the Munstermann funeral parlour in Berlin where it was placed in a refrigerated room.
But just hours later a worker at the funeral home heard shrieks coming from inside the room.
When staff went to investigate they pulled the body out of the refrigerator and found the woman alive.

New head of Multinational Joint Task Force on Boko Haram, appointed

A new head of the multinational Joint Task force on Boko Haram has been appointed. He is Major General Iliya Abbah.

Until his appointment, Maj. Abbah was the head of operations in the Niger Delta. He takes over from Brig-Gen. T. Y. Buratai who was recently appointed the Chief of Army Staff by President Buhari.

Photos: Notorious kidnapper popularly known as Vampire paraded in Imo

The Imo state police command have arrested and paraded a notorious kidnapper identified as Henry Chibueze aka "Vampire". Vampire was arrested after a failed attempt by him and his gang members to kidnap judges of the Imo state tribunal who were lodged at Disney Hotels, along Onitsha Owerri Road recently.

According to reports, security operatives in the state who acted on a tip off, swooped on the gang members as they attempted to kidnap the judges. Vampire and his members fled the hotel with gunshot wounds. He was later arrested at his elder brother's house where he had gone to treat himself.

British Airways hostess found dead in her hotel room after failing to show up for flight home from Angola

A 22-year-old British Airways stewardess died suddenly in a hotel in Angola. Emily Dunn, (circled) who had a suspected heart condition, was found dead in her room in Angola after she failed to arrive for a flight back to Heathrow, London, on July 16. 

Emily had only started with BA in May and had told friends of her 'joy' at getting her 'wings'.

38 year old Nigerian man, Olaoluwa Ibrahim was yesterday July 28th sentenced to jail by the Central Criminal Court in London for raping and stealing from a woman he attacked in Central London in June last year.

UK's metropolitan police say Ibrahim's victim was on her way back from an outing with her friends in Central London when he accosted her and raped her.

58 Yr Old Pastor Arraigned For N16m Fraud


On Tuesday, 58-year old pastor, Sam Ekeh was arraigned before a Yaba Chief Magistrate Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing the sum of N16million.

According to Daily post, Ekeh was arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, perverting the cause of justice and theft.
