Wole Soyinka's second daughter, Iyetade dies at 48

Iyetade Soyinka, the second daughter of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka has died aged 48. Ms Soyinka, formerly Iyetade Apampa, died at the University of Ibadan Teaching Hospital after a brief illness.

She leaves behind two children and her parents. May her soul rest in peace...amen.

F1 legend Michael Schumacher fighting for his life following horrific skiing accident

Retired Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, 44, is fighting for his life after he fell and hit his head on a rock while skiing off piste with his 14-year-old son Mick in the resort of Meribel in the French Alps yesterday morning Sunday December 29th.

Doctors who treated the seven-time Formula One world champion said he would ‘have died’ had he not been wearing a crash helmet. But despite the helmet, Michael Schumacher suffered serious head injuries that has left him in a coma since the accident. The German driver required immediate brain surgery as he got to the hospital and is currently being kept in an induced coma, officials said.

Speaking at a press conference at the Grenoble Hospital where he's being treated, Doctors said they can't predict the future for Michael Schumacher.

"Michael Schumacher was the victim of very serious trauma. He was very agitated when he arrived and we decided he was in a critical situation and he quickly went into a coma. The neurosurgical treatment he received brought us quite a lot of information. We had to operate urgently to release some pressure in his head. Unfortunately, he has some lesions within his brain. We judge him to be in a very serious situation. We cannot predict the future for Michael Schumacher." 

Ghanaian Footballer,Kevin Prince Boateng Assaulted On Christmas Day

Schalke star Kevin Prince Boateng is recovering in hospital after he was allegedly assaulted on Christmas Day in Germany.

German newspaper Bild claims the former Tottenham midfielder sustained injuries to his ribs, back and neck after he was attacked in a street in Kaarst, near Dusseldorf.

A police statement read: “On Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at around 12.45, an incident of physical assault took place in Kaarst.

Akure Kingdom gets new female monarch

The first daughter of late Deji of Akure, Oba Adebiyi Adegboye Adesida, who died of an undisclosed ailment on the 2nd of December, has been made the he new traditional ruler of Akure Kingdom

Princess Adetutu Adeside-Ojie's position is said to be temporary pending when a new king emerges. She was installed after several traditional rites for the passage of her late father came to conclusion recently. The 36 year old new monarch lived abroad most of her life and holds a degree in pharmacy from the Texas Southern University, Houston Texas

Until her appointment as the Kingdom's regent, Princess Adetutu worked as a clinical pharmacist with the University Health system, Hospital in San Antonto Texas. She is married with three children.

Nelson Mandela Dies at 95

South African Government has announced the death of Nelson Mandela. South African president Jacob Zuma announced that the former president and anti-apartheid revolutionary passed away peacefully in the company of his family in his home in Johannesburg around 8:50 this evening Dec. 5th. He was 95 years old.

His death marks the final chapter in a life that changed South Africa forever. What a man! May his soul rest in peace, amen.

President Jacob Zuma said flags will be flown at half-mast across South Africa immediately with a state burial to follow. The UK government have also announced that flags will be flown at half-mast in the UK. Rest in peace, Madiba!

Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja temporarily closed

The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja has been temporarily closed by officials of the Nigerian Airspace Management Authority, NAMA, following the breakdown of a Saudi Arabian Boeing 747 cargo plane on the runway of the airport last night. The airport authorities say the plane, which veered after landing at the airport, has to be fixed before it can be evacuated from the runway.

This closure has adversely affected all flights that are Abuja bound as well as those that were billed to travel to other parts of the country. Many Abuja bound passengers are now stranded. Pic above shows passengers stranded at the airport in Abuja this morning.

The Police Command again has uncovered another baby-making factory in Egbu, near Owerri the State capital, arresting the proprietor, one Dr. James Ezuma who runs a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), and a clinic. 16 girls were rescued in the process. The girls were kept in two rooms in the building that houses his NGO, with no windows while repulsive odour oozed out from their rooms
The girls, aged 14-19 were encouraged to get pregnant and take home the sum of N100,000 at delivery, on the condition  that they would abandon their babies who would be eventually used for purposes ranging from child trafficking to rituals.

The commissioner of Police has warned the general public to endeavour to keep an eye on their girls so that they would not fall prey to such miscreants like Dr. Ezuma, who does not mean well for the society.

EXCLUSIVE: Paul Walker 's Car Accident at Time of Impact Caught on CCTV

A video showing the precise moment Paul Walker's Porsche Carrera GT crashed into a tree and burst into flames has been released. The footage of the deadly crash was captured by CCTV cameras on the roof of an industrial park close to the crash site. The pic above was taken a few minutes after the accident on Saturday. It shows fire fighters and police physically wrestling one of Paul's friends away from the scene. 

Meanwhile a friend of Paul and Roger Rodas who was at the charity show on Saturday said the two friends took the Porsche out to check for a suspected mechanical issue and not for a joyride as is being reported.

'As they were backing up the Carrera to put into the garage, it started stalling. I heard someone say, and I think it was Roger, "Why is the car stalling? Let’s take it around the block", the friend told Hollywood Reporter. 'Paul said, "Let me go with you really quickly. The whole premise of taking the car out for a drive was because something was wrong. These guys are business owners and Paul was a celebrity. They are responsible people. I did a double take after reading this report on Thenet.ng. According to the investigative news portal, singer Burna Boy was part of a gang that stabbed someone to death in the UK in 2010. See it below... 

Burn Boy’s ‘uncontrollable’ mannerism and persona didn’t just start yesterday; NET investigations and sources have linked him to a criminal past, a period of his life he would rather not make public knowledge.

We are told on good authority that while in the UK back in 2010, Burna Boy was arrested by London Police for allegedly being part of a gang and stabbing someone to death. He was tried as a minor and sent to jail.

After 11 months, he was released and given two months parole plus community service on the grounds of being of ‘good behaviour’. But Burna is said to have disobeyed authorities and travelled back to Nigeria where he signed a record deal with Aristokrat.

He later travelled back to the UK but was arrested at the airport and deported to Nigeria. He is currently barred from the UK for the next 15 years.

Oh wait, or did they say he was the one who stabbed someone to death?

Breaking News!!: Anambra State PDP chairman kidnapped

The Chairman of PDP in Anambra State, Prince Kenneth Emeakayi, was kidnapped today Monday Dec. 2nd by unknown gunmen who abducted him up as he was returning to Awka, the State capital.

Prince Emeakayi was said to be returning from his village in Okija when his car was intercepted at a junction in Nri and was taken away by the gunmen. He hasn't been heard from since and the kidnappers are yet to contact his family.
