University graduate nabbed for car snatching

A computer science and information technology graduate from a university in Cotonou, Anidi Reginald, has landed in police net for car snatching in Enugu.

 

Anidi, 27 years old, is said to have graduated from the university in 2013.

The suspect, from Enugwu Eke in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, was arrested by officers of the Ogui Division after he and members of his gang snatched a Honda Pilot car, with registration number AAA 598 CH, from the owner at gunpoint.

 

The incident occurred at Ozalla, in Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, by 11.00am.

Niger lawmakers abandon impeachment plan on Gov. Aliyu after receiving N17 million each

 

According to reports, the impeachment against the Niger State Governor, Aliyu Babangida, may have been dropped as members of the state House of Assembly pushing for the governor’s removal have been allegedly paid N17m each with the additional promise that their other demands would be met as well.

The N17m is said to be part of the allowances they were owed since February.

The speaker said he couldn't confirm this report.

 

However, one of the lawmakers said, “It was not as if the governor bribed us, it is our legal entitlements and we have a right to ask for it before the expiration of our tenure. We have been paid and calm has returned to the assembly complex.” So because they had been paid, they decided against impeaching the Governor, he said.

60yr old pastor arrested with hard drugs worth N609m at Lagos airport

A 60 year old resident pastor of the Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim at Agodo-Egbe, Ikotun Lagos, Prophet Micheal Raji, has been arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA over unlawful attempt to export of 174 kilogrammes of hard narcotic drugs worth N609 million to South Africa.

Prophet Raji, believed to be a member of a drug trafficking syndicate, concealed 91kg of Methamphetamine and 83kg of Ephedrine with an estimated street value of N609 million in different foodstuffs tied in polythene bags.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered INEC to immediately nullify the election of Benue politician, Christian Abah after allegations of certificate forgery leveled against him by his political rival, Mr. Hassan Saleh, was established to be true by the court.

Christian Abah was elected in the just concluded general election to represent the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal ‎Constituency in the forthcoming 8th National Assembly.

Adamu Mu'azu resigns as PDP Chairman

The embattled PDP Chairman tendered his resignation letter this morning May 20 and his resignation is said to be with immediate effect.

According to reports Muazu said he was tired of all the stress he has been subjected to since the party lost the presidential elections. Ayo Fayose and Femi Fani Kayode have called for his resignation and that of other National Working Committee.

25 year old former NFL Player Adrian Robinson, who played for the Denver Broncos in 2013 has committed suicide. Xenophobia attacks: S/Africa repatriates 5,645 immigrants

 

South Africa has repatriated 5,645 foreigners since the end of xenophobia attacks in late April, the government said on Sunday.

Minister in the Presidency, Jeff Radebe, who said this in a statement, added that the foreigners chose to leave South Africa voluntarily.

Malawians made up the bulk of the foreigners, numbering 3,506, followed by Zimbabweans (1,440) and Mozambicans (682), while Tanzanians had (17).
Radebe said the repatriation process started soon after the latest spate of xenophobia violence ended in April.

A robbery suspect, Ahmed Adekeye, arrested by the police in Lagos, has confessed that he lied against a man, Tunde Adekambi, who he had earlier claimed to be a member of his gang.

According to Punch Metro, 23-year-old Adekambi(right) was arrested while he was returning from a morning prayer at a mosque in the Ajangbadi area of Lagos.

It was gathered that on Saturday, May 2, 2015, a gang of robbers stormed the area at about 1.30am and unleashed terror on the residents for about an hour.A vigilance group in the area confronted the gang, which had about six members, and arrested Adekeye. The other gang members reportedly escaped.

The following day, members of the vigilance group were said to have arrested Adekambi.

It was gathered that Adekeye told the vigilance group members that Adekambi was one of the gang members.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Adekeye also told the police at Ajangbadi that Adekambi was a gang member. The case was subsequently transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for further investigation.

Adekeye from Isin, Kwara State, said he lied to the police about Adekambi’s involvement because he did not want to rot in jail alone.He, however, begged Adekambi to forgive him for making him suffer in detention.

Man Confesses to Killing Chinx Drugz on Instagram

Earlier on today, US rapper Lionel Pickens, better known by his stage name Chinx, was fatally shot while driving through Queens. Mr. Pickens was with a friend in a late-model, silver Porsche when gunfire erupted around 4 a.m., the police said. Bullets pierced the glass and struck Mr. Pickens and his friend, who gave his name to investigators as Antar Aldiadi, 27. Taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Mr. Pickens died. His friend survived and was in critical condition with two bullet wounds to the back.

A 29-year-old mechanic, Bode David, is yet to recover from being made to spend a night with the corpse of his friend, late Ganiyu, and drink the water used to wash it, to prove he was not responsible for his death.

It was gathered that the incident, which happened at Isheri Magodo, a suburb of Lagos, was executed because before Ganiyu gave up the ghost in the hospital, he kept calling Bode’s name.

Recounting his ordeal, Bode, an indigene of Ekiti State, a mechanic, who specialized in fixing Japanese vehicles, said:

    “I knew the late Ganiyu and Wasiu in January, when I was looking for someone to fix my faulty Honda car. That was when Ganiyu introduced me to Wasiu to fix my car. After he fixed my car, I paid him N35,000. Since then, we have had no business except when our paths occasionally crossed and we exchange pleasantries.

Nigeria police responds to alleged ‘Human Flesh Restaurant’ in Anambra story

 
Some days ago, a few foreign media including BBC, AFP and Daily Mail published a story claiming a Nigerian restaurant in Anambra was shut down for cooking human flesh.

The Anambra State Police Command responded to the story yesterday Sunday May 17th, saying nothing of such happened. The State's Police Public Relations Officer, Uche Eze, said;

"There was nothing like that. I advise you to ignore that report. It’s not true and it did not happen. We don’t have such record. It’s embarrassing. I think we definitely deserve an apology because this story has already been sold out to a huge international audience who made so many unnecessary comments about Nigeria and Nigerians" she told Punch

How do you even report the death of a baby? This is so sad and my heart goes out to her parents. The reigning Pears Baby Queen Somkene Chukwuka Eze died on Friday May 15th after she slumped in her school and was rushed to a hospital in the Magodo area of Lagos. They tried to revive her but to no avail.

According to her aunty who reached out to LIB, Somkene was a very happy, active and lovely baby.

Young Man claims to have seen Jesus

A 17-year-old Texas high school student claims he saw Jesus after he collapsed in gym class and was without a heartbeat for 20 minutes. Zack Clements suffered sudden cardiac arrest at Victory Life Academy on May 5 and was unresponsive. But just as doctors were about to declare him dead after 20 minutes, he revived.

He was airlifted to the hospital & woke up in the intensive care unit days later. Even more incredible than Zack's recovery is what he claims he saw. Jesus!

"When I was out those 20 minutes, I saw a man who had long ruffled hair and kind of a thick beard, and it didn’t take me long to realize that that was Jesus," Zack said.

"I went up to him and he put his hand on my shoulder and told me everything would be alright."

Zach and his family are saying that they can't explain what happened, but they're calling it a miracle.

Boko Haram strikes again in Adamawa

Boko Haram attacked the village of Kojiti in Nigeria's northeastern Adamawa state on Thursday evening, killing seven people, two residents said.

It was the first reported attack in the state since the army cleared the Islamist jihadi group out of the Madagali local government in late February.

HIV-Positive student who filmed unprotected sexcapades, gets 30 years in prison

22 year old Lindenwood University student and wrestler Michael Johnson, who is HIV-positive, and filmed himself having unprotected sex with numerous men, has been jailed.

Investigators believe he could have knowingly infected more that 30 people with the virus since October 2014. Police found 32 home made sex videos on Johnson's laptop and each flick showed him with a different sexual partner. Most of the videos were recorded in his dorm room.

The police believe that the college student's partners didn't even know he was HIV positive nor did they know they were being filmed.

Former Egyptian President sentenced to death

An Eyptian court today sentenced former Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi to death over a mass prison break in 2011, weeks after he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for ordering the arrest and torture of protesters during his time in power. Morsi was removed as president y the military in July 2013 following mass street protests against his rule. Since then, the authorities have banned his Muslim Brotherhood movement and arrested thousands of his supporters.

All death sentences must first be sent to the Grand Mufti, Egypt's highest religious authority, for his opinion on whether they should stand.

Lagos State Government rewards Airport Cleaner

A cleaner at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Miss Josephine Ugwu, who found and returned N12 million belonging to a foreign passenger, has been honoured by the National Orientation Agency (NOA).

Director General of the agency, Mr Mike Omeri, yesterday awarded Miss Ugwu the Citizens Responsibility Recognition award for her honesty.

Josephine is a cleaner with Patovilki Industrial Cleaning, a Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) concessionaire. The NOA director general said the federal government was honouring her for "doing the right thing".

EFCC Arraigns 22-Year-Old Suspected Hacker For Fraud

 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday May 14, 2015 arraigned one Mary Ozala before Justice Kudirat. A. Jose of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja on a 4- count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretences.  Three other suspects, Nwokeke C. Chukwunonso, Shedrach Umeh and Uchenna Okpala are at large.

Ozala, 22-year-old student and her co-travelers are alleged to have hacked into the email account of the complainant whom they fraudulently defrauded of the sum of N2 million.  When the charge was read to the defendant in court, she pleaded not guilty.

Former House of Representative member and a Senator-elect, Dino Melaye, has accused the Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, of running the most corrupt government in the history of Nigeria.

In a​n interview​ with Premium Times, Melaye,​ who was recently elected to represent the Kogi West senatorial district, said the government of Goodluck Jonathan, massively promoted corruption.

“Jonathan is the promoter of corruption,” Mr. Melaye said.

Three indigenous armed robbers between the ages of 20 and 25 were caught after robbing and killing an Akwa Ibom businessman. They also succeded in dispossesing him of his cash while visiting yala (okuku mkt). The thieves were caught and burnt by angry youths.

Blues legend, B.B King dies at 89

Blues legend, singer, songwriter and guitarist, B.B. King died yesterday May 14th at his home in Las Vegas. He was aged 89.

His lawyer said the Blues king, who won 15 Grammy awards, died peacefully in his sleep around 9.40pm yesterday. He had been battling diabetes-related ailments and high blood pressure for years.

B.B King, real name Riley B. King, was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1980 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him at No. 6 on its 2011 list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. May his soul rest in peace, amen.
